Preamble:
The Associazione Kòres, with its registered office at Strada Castelvecchio 40, 10024 Moncalieri (TO), Tax Code 97717650010 (hereinafter, the “Association”), winner of the “Ecosistemi Culturali” public call promoted by Fondazione CDP—the non-profit foundation of the Cassa Depositi e Prestiti Group—has developed this application, which is made available free of charge to all users interested in visiting the Leumann Village.
The Leumann Village is a historic workers’ district located in the municipality of Collegno, in the province of Turin. It was built in the late 19th century at the initiative of Swiss entrepreneur Napoleone Leumann.
Here, industrial architecture was elevated to the level of art, and still today, it draws the gaze of visitors thanks to its distinctive architectural style. Napoleone Leumann had a residential and social-welfare complex constructed around his Cotton Mill—then one of the leading textile manufacturing industries—designed to accommodate the workers employed in the factory: a city within the city. Pietro Fenoglio, an engineer and hygienist, designed the village between 1875 and 1907. The architectural style is Art Nouveau (Stile Liberty) and comprises approximately 60 buildings, covering a total area of over 70,000 square meters.
In the 1970s, following the crisis and subsequent closure of the Cotton Mill, the Village became the property of the Municipality of Collegno, which allocated the housing units to citizens in accordance with public housing regulations. The Leumann Village is currently protected under the authority of the Regional Directorate for Archaeology, Fine Arts and Landscape of Piedmont, and major restoration works are ongoing, involving both the green areas and several residential structures.
This application offers a high engaging experience, enabling users to immerse themselves in the evocative atmosphere of this unique location—between past and future—through multimedia content accessible via the App. Thematic routes have been developed within the App, focusing on art, social sustainability, history, and local heritage, with a clear cultural and touristic purpose: to promote greater awareness and appreciation of this singular example of industrial archaeology.
These Terms and Conditions of Use (hereinafter referred to as the “Terms”) govern the use of the “Villaggio Leumann” application (hereinafter referred to as the “Application”), developed for the interactive enjoyment of cultural and educational routes within the “Villaggio Leumann” and other workers’ villages in the Piedmont region.
